Junior hydrogeologist (Hydrogeologist-in-Training) / Hydrogeological Technician)

We are seeking an Junior Hydrogeologist to join our team out of our Vancouver, BC office. The successful candidate will be working on projects across Canada, with a focus in British Columbia and the North.

Role Responsabilities:

  • Assist/lead in borehole drilling, lithology logging, and groundwater monitoring well installation programs
  • Conduct groundwater monitoring and sampling programs
  • Conduct single well response tests, and aquifer pumping tests
  • Install, monitoring and sampling mini‐piezometers as well as assess groundwater/surface water interactions
  • Support preparation of proposals, scope development, and cost estimates
  • Working collaboratively and communicating effectively with the project team and mentor.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Geology, Earth Science, Hydrogeology or Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience (experience in consulting an asset)
  • Ability to manage project workload and meet deliverable deadlines
  • Flexibility to travel for fieldwork in remote areas
  • Strong technical, oral, and written communication skills
  • Adaptable and able to work independently in various environments when required
  • Team player with good organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working with multi-disciplinary teams to solve problems in a timely manner
  • Valid driver’s licence; and
  • Knowledge of health and safety protocols

Role Responsabilities:

  • Lead field investigation programs, collect and analyze field data, communicate, and coordinate with clients and contractors
  • Conduct borehole logging, monitoring well installation, maintenance of groundwater wells, hydraulic well testing, and surface water and groundwater sampling
  • Evaluate groundwater flow and chemistry data
  • Experience conducting hydrogeological assessments, seepage analysis, and dewatering evaluations
  • Prepare technical reports
  • Support preparation of proposals, scope development, and cost estimates
  • Maintain up to date working knowledge of regulatory requirements, site assessment guidelines, and permit application processes
  • Experience using industry standard modeling software packages including MODFLOW and hydrogeological software packages including Leapfrog is considered an asset; and
  • GIS skills are considered an asset (e.g. Q-GIS).

Hydrologist/Water Resources Engineer (Vancouver)

We are seeking a Water Resources Scientist to join our BC team (Vancouver preferred) to support projects across Canada, with a focus on British Columbia, and the North.

Role Responsabilities:

  • Compile, manage and analyze hydrology, hydraulic, and climate data
  • Field data collection, management, and organization
  • Design and implement hydrological and meteorological monitoring programs
  • Prepare technical memorandums and reports
  • Work collaboratively across offices and disciplines
  • Project coordination
  • Provide training, mentorship, and supervision to junior and co-op staff
  • Play a key role in business development including communication with clients and contributing to proposals.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., physical geography, geology, water resources engineering)
  • Membership, or eligibility for membership, with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia or other relevant professional associations.
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in hydrology/water resources
  • Field experience in remote locations, including hydrometric and weather station installation, data logger programming, surveying and streamflow measurements
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal regulations and guidelines
  • Understanding of hydrological and hydraulic models
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s licence

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with hydrological and hydraulic models
  • Graduate degree
  • GIS experience
  • Environmental Flow Needs experience (e.g. SEFA)
  • Proficiency with R, Python, or another applicable programming language
  • Demonstrated work experience in mining and hydropower sectors
  • Hydrogeology, geomorphology, ecology, and/or channel restoration experience
  • Project management experience
  • Swiftwater training, ATV/UTV/Argo Safe Operations certification
