Environmental Scientist

Overview:

Palmer is seeking Intermediate Environmental Scientist to support our Environment & Construction Team on land development and infrastructure projects across Ontario. We are seeking a qualified candidate to join our growing team of professionals that include terrestrial and aquatic ecologists, geomorphologists, hydrogeologists, environmental scientists, and geotechnical engineers to work in a dynamic and collaborative work environment on multi-disciplinary projects.

Role Responsabilities:

  • Conduct, manage, and coordinate excess soil planning requirements, monitoring programs, and peer reviews
  • Oversee field investigations in an accurate and well organized manner
  • Review and interpreting laboratory analytical results
  • Assist with compilation of reports, tables, borehole logs, cross-sections, and figures
  • Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and applicable Regulations, Standards, and Guidelines
  • Collaborate with technical leads on the development of proposals for projects
  • Manage budgets, schedules, costing, and changes to ensure projects are delivered on target
  • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with the project team
  • Liaise with clients, regulators, and subcontractors.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or related field
  • Obtains or eligible to obtain a P.Eng. or P.Geo. designation
  • 5-10 years’ experience in the consulting industry or relevant industry
  • Ability to manage a variety of projects concurrently while meeting challenging deadlines
  • Strong technical writing, organization, and planning skills
  • Detail-oriented and can work both independently and as part of a team
  • Previous project coordination/management experience would be preferred
  • Previous excess soil management experience would be preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working with multi-disciplinary teams to solve problems in a timely manner

Work Location:

This position will be based out of Palmer’s Oakville office. Flexible work location with an opportunity to work from the office, home, or both! All candidates must have a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle.
