This project was for the development of a Restoration and Securement Strategy (RSS) to provide guidance on restoration planning and methodology for the enhancement of the Town’s Natural Heritage System (NHS). A literature review was completed of the current science on restoration ecology and strategies for the securement and identification of priority lands for integration into the NHS. The study provided applied, site level project examples as well as recommendations for integrating restoration projects at the landscape and municipal levels. Identified restoration techniques included indirect and direct restoration methods, plantation succession management, and habitat infill and edge reduction.
