Palmer is searching for a registered professional biologist (or immediately eligible) to join our dynamic team. This salaried position includes health, dental, and vacation benefits.
We are searching for a self-starter who can think independently, execute rigorously, and take ownership of the work that they are involved in. If you are a team player who wants the autonomy to shape your career but with the mentorship and support to help you execute, then Palmer would love to hear from you.
Role:
Palmer is seeking a fisheries biologist to join our aquatics team. This role will support mining, energy, and infrastructure projects, and cover baseline studies, environmental assessments, permitting, and monitoring programs.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in fisheries science, familiarity with BC fish species, fish sampling and habitat assessment methods, and experience with environmental legislation and permits. Familiarity with mine permitting and fisheries offsetting would be an asset.
The successful candidate has demonstrated experience designing and implementing aquatics and fisheries field programs and monitoring studies. The role will require leading fisheries/aquatics field programs in remote locations (up to several weeks per year), writing reports and making recommendations. Additional responsibilities may include preparation of Environmental Assessments, proposal writing, and project management. We are seeking a candidate who has broad experience studying aquatic ecosystems, is flexible, and willing to work for extended periods in the field.
