Navigating the regulatory environment
on behalf of our clients
Since its inception, Palmer Environmental Consulting Group Inc. (PECG) has specialized in Project Direction. We lead, manage and anticipate the overall environmental regulatory process, injecting the right expertise at the right time to help our clients achieve their goals in the most efficient and effective manner.
Many of our clients keep their teams small and nimble, preferring to partner with us to direct the environmental portion of their projects. We provide immediate and long-term strategic guidance from project initiation through permitting to receipt of all critical environmental approvals.
PECG’s experience working with regulatory agencies across Canada enables us to help streamline our clients’ regulatory approvals process.
Our Project Direction service encompasses three core disciplines:
Strategic Regulatory Navigation
PECG recognizes that advancing a project through the environmental assessment and permitting process can seem daunting and unpredictable. Navigating the regulatory process is our job – and our specialty.
Since its inception, PECG has outlined for our clients what to expect, and when, through every phase of permitting from project conception to operations to follow-up monitoring. We use experience from over 20 years in the industry, working in different jurisdictions, with different regulatory agencies and on different types of projects, to help our clients advance their projects efficiently and predictably.
Simply put, PECG builds teams to solve difficult problems. Although we have an intentionally small core team at PECG, we expand and strengthen our team as necessary using relationships built over 20 years in industry with more than 100 technical experts with whom we have active, ongoing agreements.
We tailor each team to the specific needs of each client and project. From a cost perspective, we save money for our clients by bringing in senior expertise only as needed. Our clients appreciate that the teams PECG assembles on their behalf are the teams that actually complete the work – a commitment which is not always upheld by large consulting firms.
PECG believes that effective project management begins with effective communication. From start to finish, we communicate regularly with our clients, subcontractors and other project team members to ensure our and others’ work programs are on track. We identify risks to project budgets and schedules, and measures for mitigating those risks.
PECG’s project managers have received comprehensive training in effective project management from PSMJ Resources, Inc., a world leader in project management education.
In addition to communicating openly and regularly with our clients, we have developed tools that clearly and simply communicate project status to our clients – in terms of budget, schedule and quality assurance. Often, our clients ask us to track and update the budgets of other project team members.
