Project Description

Palmer was retained by developer Kingdom Canada to remediate an industrial Toronto property impacted by a former underground fuel storage tank and pumping station. Groundwater at the site had been impacted by Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) resulting from the use and storage of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH).

After excavation and off-site disposal of the chemically impacted soil, we implemented a variety of measures to remediate the area that were determined to be the most time-efficient, lowest maintenance and carried the least risk of future contamination. This approach included the installations of a temporary pump and treat system, and thermal lock geosynthetic clay liners along the property lines close to the identified groundwater plume.

Upon completion, the site was prepared for the installation of groundwater monitoring wells, and a Record of Site Condition (RSC) was filed with the MECP to support the residential redevelopment of the industrial property.
